The connection is clearly drawn between burgers and nationalism, because eating burgers is the American Style. It also is plainly trying to say that the burger is the food of America, which, in a way, it is. The Statue of Liberty is huge, New York is huge, the lettering is huge, and the burger is huge. What is it that we Americans prize above all others? Bigger is better! This advert plainly shows that statement. This advertisement plays on the two things that drive hardcore Americans through their day to day lives, nationalism and burgers. Today, however, I will tackle my very favorite subject, food. I have been exclusively choosing ads about things that interest me in some way, whether it be explosions, movies, history, cats, or Star Wars. This is a result of the corruption of the media, it has corrupted the minds of our younger generations, it has corrupted the minds of our older generations, in fact, it has corrupted us all. As I walked home from school today, I heard a young girl, around first grade, complaining about her weight. I have learned how evil the media can be, and that it is hurting our younger generations. On the whole, I am glad that I did these blogs and took the class.

It would be good for the economy, and for the self esteem of hundreds of thousands of teenagers.

I believe that we could do the same with the media, bust the big corporations and give way to smaller companies to take over. Teddy Roosevelt waged a one man crusade and busted the trusts, making way for job growth and economic prosperity. One hundred years ago, the trust corporations had complete control over everything, similar to the way that the big six has complete control of the media. I believe that our country should bust the media, like they busted the big corporations one hundred years ago. They make a plaything, a toy, out of women, who deserve more respect than what they get from the media. Writing these blogs have taught me just how much I loathe the media, not like movies or Television shows, but commercials and posters. That is why it is important for us as a society to have media literacy to save us from the all encompassing menace of the media.

In a way, the media is full of con men with no sense of morality. They are willing to make someone feel so bed that they hurt themselves, and why? So that they can sell a few more items that have no true use to us. It made me see just how far the media is willing to go to sell their products. The documentary, Miss Representation really affected me, not the documentary as a whole, but the scene at the beginning where they talk to the girl who starts to cry because her sister is cutting herself really had a profound affect upon me.

In my limited experiences with media, I have found that media is very manipulative and controlling, trying to get someone to buy their product through whatever means possible, even if it means that they make people feel terrible about themselves. Because of this, my life as a whole has been little impacted by the stream of media. The main reason for this is, before I started watching commercials to find a topic to write about, I had seen little to no commercials because for the most part my family watched Netflix for our entertainment, which is commercial free. As I look back on all of my old blogs, I can see that my understanding of the media has increased tenfold.
